Range Maintenance & Enhancements
Thank you to all the volunteers!
The Summit County Shooting Range in Colorado relies on the
efforts of volunteers to keep the range in good condition. This
means periodic cleanups, shooting bench maintenance, and
maintenance of target stands. Below is a sampling of recent work
performed by these outstanding volunteers.
2011 Range Cleanup
In the Spring of 2011, two Boy Scout troops worked to help
cleanup the range after little or no maintenance being done in
2010.
Boy Scout Troop 188
A group of hard working Scouts and parents came together on
June 6, 2011 to remove 3,700 pounds of debris from the pistol
range. That's almost 2 tons! Debris included spent brass,
shells, used target supports, and misc. items left at the range
by users after being shot up.

Boy Scout Troop 40
The following Saturday, Boy Scout Troop 40 worked on the
rifle range. Despite still being muddy from the Spring runoff,
they did a great job of cleanup debris.

Upgraded Shooting Benches!
In the last few months, new benches have been provided by
both Summit County staff and through the efforts of a Troop 40
Eagle Scout Tyler Nelson. These are beautiful benches that should withstand
the worst the mountain weather has to give for many years.
Many thanks go out to everyone who is helping to make the
Summit County Shooting Range an enjoyable place to enjoy the
shooting sports!
