Hours

The range is open from sunrise to sunset 7 days a week.

The range may be closed on the first Monday of each month for cleanup and maintenance by volunteers.

Facilities

Donated Target Stand at the Summit County Shooting RangeThere are no facilities at range at this time - not even a porta-potty. Take note before planning your day at the range. The landfill has generously provided a roll-off dumpster at the range to discard your used targets and ammo boxes.

The ground beneath the range is extraordinarily compacted. Driving a target stand into the ground is very difficult when the ground is dry. Self-supporting stands with sandbags are one useful method of creating a target stand.

Multiple people have tried to donate target stands for general public use. Unfortunately, these seem to walk away, or become the target of vandalism.

If you would like to bring your own stands to the range, you can purchase them from a local supplier: Tuffseteel (located right in Dillon).

The Summit County Shooting Range is managed, maintained, and equipped by the users of the range. There are no government funds set aside for cleanup, upkeep, target frames, etc. This means that you are the management. You are the keeper of the range.

The appearance of this range reflects on the firearms owners of Summit County. Please be responsible in cleaning up your trash. If you brought a cardboard box, wood, or another item to act as your target, please dispose of the waste before you leave. Try and leave the range a little nicer than when you arrived.

Consider cleaning up your brass or spent shell casings (especially shotgun shells). Bring a broom and dustpan every now and then. Place your empty ammo boxes in the dumpster - not on the ground.

The range may be closed on the first Monday of each month for cleanup. Pitch in on one of these Mondays when the range is especially in need of help and make a difference!
